(Keywords: Popular Culture and Cultural Policy)
2017 has been designated as the Year of ASEAN-Korea Cultural Exchange, and it is also the year when the ASEAN Culture House will be inaugurated. To further enhance cooperation between ASEAN and Korea in the Socio-Cultural field, the exchange of popular-culture would be highly effective, as it is easily accessible by the people. Also, strengthening cooperative frameworks and cultural policies necessary to support this initiative is imperative. Through such efforts, the Korean people will be able to gain a deeper understanding of the current popular culture of the ASEAN people, and the ASEAN people will be able to take another step further into realising a more dynamic and harmonious community. In this regard, what kind of efforts have there been by ASEAN Member States and Korea, and what direction should be pursued in the future? What are the roles by the public, the private, and the people in developing the necessary cooperative frameworks and cultural policies?
